The Toyota MR2 is a two-seat, mid engined, rear wheel drive sports car produced by Toyota from 1984 until July 2007 when production stopped in Japan, in three different design series. The latest version was called the Toyota MR-S in Japan, the Toyota MR2 Spyder in the United States, and the Toyota MR2 Roadster in Europe. The new MR2, designated SW20 (in America the chassis codes were SW22 for the turbocharged model and SW21 for the naturally-aspirated model), was longer, wider and heavier than its predecessor and had smoother bodylines. While the AW11 was a pure sports car, made in the spirit of Lotus, the SW20, being quite larger, could be classed as a GT-car. The donor car Peugeot 406 was a large family car from the French automaker Peugeot from 1995 to 2004. Available in coupe body style with a choice of gasoline or turbo diesel engines, it used the same platform as the Citroen Xantia, though without that car's sophisticated hydropneumatic suspension system. The diesel versions were very popular, and the 406 became one of Europe's best-selling diesel-powered cars. Initially, the car was available with 1.8 L and 2.0 L gasoline and 1.9 L turbo diesel engines, followed by a 110 bhp 2.1 L turbo diesel, turbo charged 2.0 L and 3.0 L gasoline V6 engines. The 2-door coupe was both designed and built by Italian designer Pininfarina, with choices of a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine or a 3.0 L V6, and from 2001, a 2.2 L HDi diesel engine. The 406 was notably successful in the UK, where it was built in the factories inherited from Chrysler Europe.It broke into the key UK fleet sales market, with 90 percent of units becoming company cars.

The chassis is dimensionally correct as a clone to the original. The cabin area offers approximately 4" more legroom than Super Replica’s chassis tub in the donor car Pontiac Fiero. The suspension is based on the Lamborghini design. The rear wheels have dual coil over suspension while the front uses a single coil over. Another advantage for Super Replica is we can install a larger gas tank. Instead of using the typical 11 gallon Fiero tank we now have the capacity to install an aluminium gas tank of 25 gallons.
